Thank you for calling RBI! Don't want to keep minimum balance in your bank account and won't have more than four debits? Open a Basic Savings Bank Deposit Account. You don't need to keep minimum balance and it works just like a regular savings bank account - only has some limitations. For instance there can be maximum four debit transactions a month in the account, free of charge, through any mode like NEFT/cheque clearing/EMI etc. Also, you cannot have your BSBD Account and another savings bank account in the same bank.
